In this exciting episode of the WorkPlay podcast, we welcome the vibrant and creative Tré, a talented content creator based in Brooklyn, New York. Tré shares her journey from aspiring actress to passionate photographer, highlighting the importance of storytelling in her work and the energy exchange that occurs during shoots.

Research and Understanding

Tré emphasizes the importance of understanding the WorkPlay members’ narratives before the shoot. They conduct thorough research by looking at the members’ websites and social media to grasp the story they want to tell. As Tré mentions, “I do a lot of research on the back end. I look at their website, socials, and I look at the story that they’re already trying to tell.” This foundational knowledge allows Tré to align their visuals with the members’ branding and messaging effectively.

Collaboration and Communication

For Tré, collaboration is key to creating compelling visuals, and prioritizes open communication with the members. Tré explains, “Once I meet them, we have a conversation. I ask them, What story are you trying to tell? What story are you trying to convey?” This dialogue not only helps in understanding the members’ visions but also fosters a collaborative environment where ideas can flourish, leading to more authentic and engaging imagery.

Creating a Comfortable Environment

Establishing a positive and comfortable atmosphere during the shoot is crucial for capturing genuine moments. Tré shares, “The number one most important thing on set during the shoot is making sure that energy is good.” By taking steps to ensure that members feel at ease—such as playing their favorite music and having pre-shoot discussions—Tré can help alleviate nerves, allowing the members to express themselves freely and authentically in front of the camera.

Incorporating Personal Elements

Tré recognizes that personal elements, such as family, can significantly enhance the storytelling aspect of the visuals. Tré notes, “A lot of the members that I’ve worked with integrate their family in their business, whether it’s their kids or their spouses.” By including these personal touches in the shoots, Tré not only highlights the members’ authentic selves but also creates a deeper connection with their audience, making the visuals more relatable and impactful.

Staying Inspired and Current

To keep the creativity flowing, Tré actively engages with a diverse community of creatives. Tré states, “I spend a lot of time with them. And they constantly inspire me because they’re doing something that I’m not doing.” This constant interaction with other artists allows Tré to draw inspiration from various backgrounds and experiences, ensuring that each shoot is infused with fresh ideas and perspectives, ultimately leading to more dynamic and innovative visuals.
